Marvel(lous) Disney

If you may or may not know, Disney is buying(bought) over Marvel.

Yup. The people who brought you Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy, have bought over the people who brought you Spiderman, Ironman and the Hulk

And now with the wonders of the internet, people have a way to express their views on what this new merging might bring. What new "hybrids" will emerge.

Lets have a look shall we?

Defying Logic.

I have this practical class in which i am required to make teeth by carving them out of wax. We were to carve them and hand them in once we get the approval from the lecturer in charge.

In the previous class, we were told by the postgraduate in charge to get our work done by the next class or we wont be given any attendance. To prove that we had done our work, we would have to get signature of approval from the lecturer.

So anyway, the "next" class finally came. The postgraduate asked if we have finished our work, we (my group) said yes, but we haven't gotten the signature from the lecturer yet because, well, he wasn't around yet. So the postgraduate(PG) , told us we will still be marked absent until the lecturer gives us his signature of approval.

Another PG who was in the room then said that the lecturer wont be coming in today. So we looked at the 1st PG with a "so what now" kind of look on our face. He replied sternly, "Its not my problem, its your responsibility."

*gasp* ......shocking ain't it.

So we argued, (well, by we i meant the other students, i couldn't be bothered really) , how are we suppose to get his signature if he doesn't come to class.

We should have gotten his signature earlier in the day ( this class was the last class for the day and it was in the afternoon).

Yes, your absolutely right, he expects us to drop everything else we are doing and come to get the signature because "this is the center of the universe and all life revolves around this subject".

Then the other PG said something else. She said that the lecturer didn't even come to college today.

Wanna guess what the 1st PG said to that?

"I dont care, its still their responsibility to get the signature by today itself and since they can't do it, no attendance for them all!"

The way he said it was in a tone like, " we dont negotiate with terrorists" kinda of tone.

So everybody in the room was like "WTF", even the other PG. So then everybody once again pleaded/argued with him, even the other PG sided with us, i mean.....come on....who wouldn't .

Then I think after a while, it finally sunk into him. He realized what we were telling him. Out of embarrassment or just to stop the conversation, he got up and went out of the class.

We got our attendance in the end at the end of the class. =)

Welcome back.....not!

Nothing says welcome back to hell like being yelled at by your lecturer for doing absolutely nothing.

Was listening into this lecture when all of a sudden the lecture looks at me and tells me that i can leave the class if i wanted to.

She(yes it was a she) kept on insisting i can get out of the class if wasn't interested.

What the heck did i do? Did i yawn? No i didn't. Was she scolding me for blinking? for breathing?

She told me to stand up, so i did. She continued to say stuff like, you should pay attention in class, dont fool around and etc etc.

Then she proceeded to "test" me by asking me a series of questions relating to the day's topic, to see if i was paying attention. I answered everything. (Hah! in your face!)

After some pause, (you can clearly see that she wasn't expecting me to answer every question she asked) i very calmly asked her what did i do wrong. As usual, the lecturers here aren't used to anybody, let alone a student talking back at them while they're giving a scolding. So she gave me a disgruntled looked. I asked her again, what did i do to offend her.

And with that disgruntled look on her face she said "You irritated me"/"You'd better not irritate me" . I couldn't really hear what she was saying cause she kinda muttered it but it was along the lined of these two phrases.

Eventually after some off topic blabbering, she allowed me to sit back down and the lesson continued.

So what was it exactly did i do? Here's my theory.

Right before the gun was pointed at me, i moved my note book ever so slightly to allow my friend sitting beside me to read my notes which i wrote as the lecturer was speaking. My friend wanted to check the spelling for one of the words because apart from having an accent, that sorry excuse for a lecturer kept muttering under her breath. And i did it all without even taking my eyes off the lecturer. I was listening to every word she said.

So.....moving a book ever so slightly has the ability to irritate a lecturer..........wonder what would happen if i threw a paper plane then. Dumbass.

No fun

As i mentioned previously, the newer batch of juniors have arrived.

Their classes haven't begun yet so they are just basically loitering around the whole place. From the hostel to college to other parts of town.

They want to go outside, they want to explore, they want to see whats around them. They come to me and ask where to go, what places to visit, what to do, what to buy and how to spend their time. Their eyes glimmer with anticipation, wondering what fabulous places i would speak off and how much fun they can have.

I looked at them, smiled a little and said, 'Nothing' .

(and cue the cricket chirping, the cawing crow and the blowing tumble weed)

I told them there was nothing here to do. No shopping malls , no arcades, basically whatever fun places that existed back home did not exist here and those that did exist are in a more simpler, primitive form.

Nevertheless , this did not dampen their spirits. couple of days after i told them that, they are still perky and all the flutter on what to do next.

Which made me think. Am i no fun? Seriously.

They have spent more money in a week than i did in a whole year of being here.

They shop for appliances, food, clothes, accessories, knit knacks and paddy wacks. I only buy food.

They plan for their first outing out of town just a week after getting here. I planed for my first outing out of town almost over a year i got here.

They are willing to travel to a place 5-6 hours away to have fun. I couldn't even be bothered to travel an hour away to have "fun".

They wanna go out to the local cafe and hang out and drink coffee. I prefer to stay in my room and watch shows on my laptop.

Its a good thing to be sociable, is it not? Of course it is. There are cute girls to socialize with for crying out loud! So why am i not doing so?

Am i no fun? Am i considered anti social? Or am i like the old guy who sits in his rocking chair in front of the tv while the younger generation play and frolic outside? I am not sure about that myself.

My only defense in all of this is that i personally feel that there is nothing of interest for me to do here.

Ah what the heck . *opens a bag of chips and continues watching shows*
